WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF THE
GRENADA NATIONAL PATIENT KIDNEY FOUNDATION
Michael Miller 1960 - 2008 May he rest in peace.
The Foundation would like to thank the
Government of Grenada, Corporations, Companies, Universities, Schools, Churches, Individuals and Friends Overseas
for their support during the pledges and for the contiuned monthly support!
The GNPKF was formed in May of 2007, and completed registration in July. It is now a registered, non-governmental charitable organization.
The Foundation was founded by Yolande Jessamy to strengthen the voice of the patients. Yolande Jessamy says: 'Some of the patients had individual support and I felt that if we put all our resources together we can make a difference. I wanted it to be run by patients for patients with a good supportive team.'
It was formed to help support themselves, and with some others helping, hopes to raise funds to supplement payments for fees for dialysis, and raise public awareness about kidney disease and other related problems.
On the website you will meet the patients themselves and find out about activities. There will also be serious information for those who want to find out more about how the kidneys function. We hope to talk about diet, and have question and answer sessions where people can write in with their queries about kidneys and we will talk about prevention and how to take care of our kidneys now, so that we do not end up with kidney failure.
GIVE GENEROUSLY TO SUPPORT THE PATIENTS.
These are people who nearly died - but dialysis is giving them back a life. Mothers, a teacher, a driver. THIS IS VERY WORTHWHILE. Currently the GNPKF is helping (still in a small way) four patients. There is a potential in Grenada for forty more. (It could be you or me, anytime). Our aim is to be able to help ten patients by the end of our first year.
First of all let's meet the Patients! Those patients who are on dialysis right now in Grenada.
